The reconciliation of a person with their memories and fantasies, mourning and recognition, the realm of dreams celebrates in various ways the shadows and spirits, the strange presences that we sense with desire and anxiety in equal measure.
This work is a continuation of Angelos Papadopoulo’s research into possible points of proximity and encounter.
This time, he examines the encounter with the inner mystery and with something that remains to be resolved. In this choreographic composition for two performers, the Latin word umbra [shadow] means a prolonged, vague presence. The work imagines an unspoken dialogue, a paradoxical love story, a series of anarchic connections, imitations, and divergences, with humor, Brazilian jiu jitsu movements, gazes, and tensions, with John Coltrane's
"Blue Train" haunting the space.
Angelos Papadopoulos presented his dance production, An Umbra Story at M54, the Arc for Dance Festival & Art Athina.
The performance An UMBRA Story was held under the auspices and with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture.
